India-Israel hold Dialogue on Multilateral and UN Issues

Jan 29: Bilateral Foreign Office consultations (via the VTC platform) were held between UN & Multilateral Divisions of India and Israel on 28 January 2021. Shri Prakash Gupta, Joint Secretary (UNP & Summits), Ministry of External Affairs led the Indian delegation along with officials from WANA and UNES Division, PMI New York, and the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv. The Israeli delegation was led by Mr. Haim Waxman, Deputy Director-General, UN & International Organizations, and included officials from the Foreign Ministry of Israel, Permanent Mission of Israel in New York, and the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi.

Israeli side congratulated India for its election to the non-permanent membership of the UNSC. Both sides held wide-ranging discussions on issues on the UN agenda including recent developments in the Middle East, Climate Change, and SDGs. The Indian delegation briefed Israel on its priorities during its upcoming UNSC tenure and both sides decided to work closely together, in keeping with their Strategic Partnership.
