Tajikistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia. The pre-Soviet Union country though gained independence in 1991 was subjected to a civil war from 1992 until 1997. The country is known for rugged mountains, popular for hiking and climbing.
Economically the country’s primary GDP is from the immigrant population which works in other countries (primarily Russia). The country has a fragile economy due to corruption and bad reforms.
Tajikistan is also known for exports of aluminium and cotton.
