About Iraq

Iraq, also known as the Republic of Iraq is a prominent country in the Middle East that has been war-torn, landlocked (except for a very small coastline). Pre-historically Iraq was the hub of the Akkadian, Sumerian, Assyrian and Babylonian eras. The country was once part of the British empire.

Iraq after the invasion by the US and subsequent insurgency and civil wars has reduced the country to the doldrums. However, Oil forms the major economy of the country.
