About Belarus

Belarus is a former Soviet Union country officially known as the Republic of Belarus and historically known as Byelorussia or Belorussia. It is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe bordering Russia to the northeast, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest. It is part of Russia’s Common Wealth of Independent States (CIS) and is considered as one of the richest CIS member states.

The country’s primary economy is into manufacturing and was one of the most industrially developed countries of the Soviet Union.
