Oct 17: The 3rd India-Central Asia meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Council / National Security Advisers was held on 16 October 2025 in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. NSA Shri Ajit Doval participated in the meeting along with the Secretaries/ National Security Advisers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Deputy Secretary of the Security Council represented the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the Secretaries of the Security Council / National Security Advisers reiterated the importance of regular dialogue in view of the changing nature of security challenges. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in areas of countering terrorism, radicalisation, extremism and narcotics trafficking. The Secretaries/NSAs emphasised the significance of security and stability in Afghanistan for the region. They agreed to work closely with Afghanistan in addressing security challenges, as well as in areas such as connectivity and economic development, which could form the basis of long-term stability. They agreed to prioritise greater connectivity between India and the Central Asian countries. The Secretaries/NSAs also agreed to expand the scope of cooperation under this format to include areas such as digital connectivity and infrastructure, AI and other emerging technologies, and space cooperation.
The NSA called on H.E. Mr Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, along with the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Central Asian countries. NSA also held bilateral meetings with the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The 3rd meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Council / National Security Advisers was held based on the consensus reached at the first India-Central Asia Summit on 27 January 2022 to hold regular meetings at the level of Secretaries of the Security Council / National Security Advisers. The 1st meeting in this format was held on 06 December 2022 in New Delhi, India, and the 2nd Meeting was held on 23 October 2023 in Astana, Kazakhstan. The third meeting was also held in the backdrop of a successful 4th India-Central Asia Foreign Ministers meeting in New Delhi on 06 June 2025.
