Nov 06: The 9th India-Latvia Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) were held in Riga on 05 November 2025. The Indian delegation was led by Shri Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs and the Latvian side was led by Andžejs Viļumsons, State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. The last FOC was held in November 2022 in New Delhi. Secretary (West) also called on H.E. Baiba Braže, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Latvia.
The entire gamut of bilateral relations was reviewed during the FOC. Both sides agreed to expand the relations including in areas of trade, technology, innovation and people-to-people ties.
Secretary (West) conveyed India’s appreciation for Latvia’s condemnation of all forms of terrorism, and reiterated India’s support for Latvia’s successful stint at the UNSC for the period 2026-2027. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
It was agreed to maintain regular official exchanges and hold the next FOC in New Delhi at a mutually convenient time in 2026.
