Construction of fence at the India-Bangladesh border

Jan 15: The Bangladesh Acting High Commissioner to India, Mr. Md. Nural Islam, was summoned by MEA to the South Block today, January 13, 2025, at 2:00 pm.

It was conveyed that regarding security measures at the border, including fencing, India observed all protocols and agreements between the two governments and the Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh.

India reiterated its commitment to ensuring a crime-free border by effectively addressing the challenges of cross-border criminal activities, smuggling, criminal movement, and trafficking. Barbed wire fencing, border lighting, installation of technical devices, and cattle fences are measures for securing the border.

India conveyed its expectation that Bangladesh would implement all earlier understandings and that there would be a cooperative approach to combating cross-border crimes.
