The launch of Project PRAYAS

Dec 22: To commemorate International Migrants Day (18 December), Secretary(CPV& OIA) Shri Muktesh Pardeshi launched Project PRAYAS (Promoting Regular & Assisted Migration for Youth and Skilled Professionals) in New Delhi on 21 December 2023.

2. This International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Development Fund assisted Project envisages the development of a roadmap for improved coordination between Central and State Governments to encourage the sharing of best practices between States and enhanced engagement with the MEA on matters related to the international migration cycle. The project is a collaboration between the IOM India and the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA).

3. Project PRAYAS not only aligns with the government of India’s priorities for the promotion of safe and orderly migration, but also aligns with Goal 10.7 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to facilitate orderly, safe, regular, and responsible migration and mobility of people. The project also adheres to the objectives of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) and the Migration Governance Framework (MiGOF).

4. The launch event was attended by senior officials from MEA, the IOM India Office, representatives of State Recruitment Agencies, members of the Diplomatic Corps, academicians and members of civil society.
