SCHEME TO PROCESS FARMER’S PRODUCE

Mar 25:Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing a Central Sector umbrella scheme- Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) since 2016-17. Under its component schemes, it, inter alia, provides grants-in-aid for setting up of food processing/ preservation industries with farm-level infrastructure like primary processing facilities, collection centers, etc. MoFPI is also implementing a centrally sponsored “PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme” for a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25 with an outlay of Rs 10,000 Crore. PMFME Scheme provides support to Self Help Groups (SHGs)/ Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)/ Cooperatives for setting up/ up-gradation of micro food processing units, Seed Capital to SHGs, Common Infrastructure, Marketing & Branding support, etc. These schemes help farmers in processing/ selling their produce in farm vicinity.
