Bridging India Palestine Markets

Nov 11: India Economic Trade Organization (IETO) in Association with Palestine Business Forum organized a webinar “Bridging Markets: India – Palestine” to discuss and identify opportunities of bilateral trade between India and Palestine. The chief guest of the event were Mr. Khaled al-Osaily, Hon’ble Minister of National Economy and Shri Sunil Kumar, Hon’ble Representative, Representative Office of India in Ramallah, Palestine. The event was co-chaired by Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of IETO and Mr. Amer Osaily, President of the Palestine Business Forum.

Speaking in the Webinar, the Hon’ble Minister said there are definitely opportunities in bi-lateral trade between India and Palestine especially in the areas of Textiles, Food Manufacturing, Machineries, Imitation Jewellery, etc., and hence Palestine is looking towards having a Commercial attache at the Embassy of Palestine in India at New Delhi, whose sole purpose is to promote and identify the opportunities of trade in Palestine.

In this regards Dr. Asif Iqbal mentioned that a process to establish the India Palestine Trade Forum is underway where over 20 Well Known CEOs will be part of the forum from India side and are expecting more participation on the Palestine front and once this is formed, there is a possiblity by February 2021, a large delegation of Business men from India would visit Palestine to engage in business discussions.

It may be noted that the 3rd round of bilateral Foreign Office Consultations was held between India and Palestine on 10 September 2020, led by Shri Sanjay Bhattacharyya, Secretary (CPV & OIA) and Dr. Amal Jadou Shakka, Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Palestine and discussions were reviewed on the 8 ongoing projects in Palestine implemented under a cumulative grant of USD 59 million

Dr. Asif Iqbal mentioned that India Economic Trade Organization shall be available for support and connection with Palestine businesses for anyone seeking opportunity in Palestine.
