3rd JWG meeting of India-Malaysia

Dec 12: The 3rd meeting of the India-Malaysia Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism and Combating Transnational Crime was held in New Delhi on 10 December 2025. The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Vinod Bahade, Joint Secretary (Counter Terrorism) in the Ministry of External Affairs of India and Mr. Mohd. Azlan bin Razali, Undersecretary of the International Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia.

Both sides condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and emphasised the need for strengthening international cooperation to combat terrorism in a comprehensive and sustained manner. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in the multilateral fora, including the UN, FATF, APG and ARF.

The two sides exchanged views on the regional and global terrorism landscape. They discussed the challenges in combating terrorism, including the use of new and emerging technologies by terrorists, terror financing and the linkages between transnational organised crime and terrorism. In this regard, they underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation through the timely sharing of information, law enforcement training and capacity building.

The Malaysian delegation will also be visiting the headquarters of the National Security Guard (NSG) on 11 December 2025 to discuss the avenues of bilateral capacity-building measures.

The two sides agreed to hold the next round of JWG meeting in Kuala Lumpur on a mutually convenient date.
