Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi Visits Greece

Feb 01: Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture (MoS) Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi visited Greece on 30-31 January 2023.

During the visit, MoS called on the Deputy Prime Minister of Greece, H.E. Mr Panagiotis Pikrammenos. She also met the Greek Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr Nikos Dendias.

MoS had extensive bilateral discussions with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Greek Diaspora and Public Diplomacy, H.E. Mr Andreas Katsaniotis and Minister of Culture and Sports of Greece, H.E. Ms Lina G. Mendoni. The discussions focussed on trade & economy, culture & arts, people-to-people contacts and migration & mobility.

MoS paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, on his Punya Tithi on 30th January, in Athens. She also interacted with a cross-section of the Indian and business community, friends of India, and Indologists, and participated in a special Yoga event as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. MoS also released the book – ‘Indian Music’ by the Greek musician and researcher, Mr Konstantinos Kalaitzis.

MoS’s visit to Greece added further momentum to the excellent ties between India and Greece and provided an opportunity to share fresh ideas and new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
